Patriots vs. Jaguars inactives: Defense down a second starter

The New England Patriots defense will be down a second starter on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After the team already ruled out outside linebacker Dre’Mont Jones heading into the weekend because of a shoulder injury, safety Craig Woodson has been deactivated ahead of the Week 3 contest.
Woodson, like Jones, hurt his shoulder during last week’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. With him out and third safety Dell Pettus on injured reserve, the Patriots will only have one of their top three players at the position available: Kevin Byard, who will be joined by Jaylen Reed and practice squad elevation Mike Brown on the game day roster.

Besides the aforementioned Jones and Woodson, a third Patriot will miss the game for medical reasons. Third-round rookie tight end Eli Raridon, who suffered a thigh injury versus the Pittsburgh last Sunday, has been ruled out. Like Woodson, he was deemed questionable entering the game but ultimately unable to get the green light.
Joining those three on the inactives list are three healthy scratches. Behren Morton, Dametrious Crownover and Leonard Taylor are depth options at their respective positions at this point in time.
