· Yahoo Sports

Women’s Hockey (28-4)

With four of their top players in Milan, Penn State continued its dominance in the AHA with a sweep of Lindenwood. Penn State trailed early in Game 1 but poured it on with four goals in the opening period. Six different Nittany Lions found the back of the net, a testament to how quickly Jeff Kampersal has built this program’s depth. The Nittany Lions took Game 1 6-3.

In Game 2, Grace Outwater scored the first and last goal of the game for the Nittany Lions in a 5-0 win. Katie DeSa recorded her 10th shutout of the season, a new single-season program record.

Penn State will close out the regular season with a home series against RIT tonight (6pm on Big Ten Plus) and tomorrow (2pm on Big Ten Plus).

Women’s Lacrosse (2-0)

The Kayla Treanor era is off to a good start, with women’s lacrosse scoring a 10-9 road win over Richmond in the season opener and a 17-9 win over UMass.

Penn State trailed 4-1 against Richmond early in the second quarter, but a run led by two goals from Payton Wainman and three assists by Delaney Radin brought the Lions back even early in the third quarter. Anna Salerno scored the game-winning goal with 10 minutes left in regulation, and Penn State held off the Spiders’ comeback effort to seal the first win of the Treanor era.

Wednesday’s home opener against UMass was much calmer, with Penn State smothering the Minutewomen with six goals in the first quarter. The Nittany Lions led 10-1 at halftime and coasted to a decisive 17-9 win. Erika Ho had three goals and four assists, and Rocquette Allen had five goals in an impressive performance for the offense.

Penn State will look to extend its unbeaten start with games against Bucknell on Sunday (11am on Big Ten Plus) and Pitt on Wednesday (5pm on Big Ten Plus).

Men’s Volleyball (6-4)

The men’s volleyball team easily beat Saint Francis with back-to-back sweeps over the weekend. Penn State held the Red Flash to .095 hitting percentage in Friday’s match, and Sean Harvey added nine kills as the Lions leaned on their depth offensively.

Saturday’s match was just as lopsided, although Penn State narrowly took the second set 26-24. Sean Harvey had 11 kills for the offense, and Tristan Hassell, Jaidyn Bethel, and Owen Rose all had three blocks to keep the Red Flash at bay.

Penn State will travel to Princeton for matches tonight (7pm on ESPN+) and tomorrow (4pm on ESPN+).

Men’s Lacrosse (1-1)

The men’s lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season with a tough 14-13 overtime loss to Villanova. Neither team led by more than two goals until Andrew Beard scored to give Penn State a 12-9 lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Wildcats stormed back with four goals in just under three minutes to take a 13-12 lead. Alex Ross tied the game for Penn State to send the game to overtime, but Dan Martin won the game for Villanova in overtime.

Penn State will travel to Princeton on Saturday (Noon).

Women’s Basketball (8-17)

The women’s basketball team dropped a pair of games to ranked teams, with an 81-70 loss to Michigan State on Saturday and an 81-62 loss to Maryland on Thursday.

Penn State raced out to a 28-13 lead against Michigan State but slowly faded as the game went on. The Spartans outscored the Nittany Lions 48-25 in the second half to leave Rec Hall with an 81-70 win. Kiyomi McMiller scored 37 points for Penn State and pulled in eight rebounds, but the rest of the offense was just 12 for 28 from the floor.

Penn State kept it close with Maryland for three quarters, but the Terrapins pulled away with a 23-12 fourth quarter. Kiyomi McMiller scored 30 for the second straight game, and Gracie Merkle added 13 points, but the Nittany Lions got very little offense outside of them and were outrebounded 46-33.

Penn State will host Northwestern on Sunday (4pm on BTN).

RFK Jr. shakes up top health department staff

· Axios

Two senior Trump administration health officials — including one who was running the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — are leaving their posts as part of a staff shakeup by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ahead of the midterm elections, two sources confirmed to Axios.

Why it matters: The departures of deputy health secretary Jim O'Neill and general counsel Mike Stuart coincide with Kennedy's public emphasis on top administration priorities like cleaning up the food supply and lowering drug prices.

Visit sweetbonanza.qpon for more information.

  • O'Neill was not only the second-ranking official at the Department of Health and Human Services, but also the acting director of the CDC.

Driving the news: The staff shuffle will effectively make the current Medicare director Chris Klomp chief of staff under Kennedy, overseeing all of the department's operations.

  • Klomp will continue to serve as the director of Medicare, the department said in a Thursday news release.
  • Klomp led President Trump's price negotiations with leading drugmakers and also oversaw efforts to address rising costs in Medicare Advantage.
  • The changes will also elevate deputy FDA commissioners Kyle Diamantas and Grace Graham to senior counselors at the agency.

HHS did not immediately respond to a request for further comment or to questions over who will step in as acting director of CDC.
